Dearest Mary-Kate,

Quite by chance I came across this Guest Book in memory of your beloved husband Joe. Words cannot even begin to express our deepest sorrow and sympathy.

Even thought we haven't seen one another for "far" too many years, we will always remember Joe as a remarkable, honest, witty and most generous person.

Hopefully, we may reconnect. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your children.

With sympathy and all of our love,
Joan and Pat Alix

Joe Welby is my uncle. I was really sad to hear that he had died and very sad when i went to the funeral. joe still brings a smile to my face though. Yesterday, i went to adoration and i swear i could imagine uncle Joe sitting on the rafters laughing with a GIANT smile, and swinging his legs. I was kind of sad and thinking about him and then i looked up and i started to smile and everything was super quiet and i burst out laughing and i smiled the rest of the day. Thank you Uncle Joe for making my day! my friends were like, Kaitlyn, why are you so happy and i just said Because. Thank you Uncle Joe, I miss you. but you still live on in my heart.

Dear Mary-Kate, Kerry, Mark, Maura, Paul and Murphy,
We are all so shocked and devestated by Joe's sudden passing. When we told the kids, they all said the same thing -"We love Joe, Cape Cod will never be the same - he was the best." He truly was the best! The kids loved all of the ice creams that he used to get them, and the bucks he would give them for The Chocolate Sparrow. He was so generous. Also, all of the times he would play with them, and tell us all funny stories. They could never drive past your house without asking us to stop and see if Joe was out on the deck. If he wasn't, they would roll down the windows and yell, "HEY JOE!!!" It was impossible to be with Joe and not laugh. We will never forget the famous kayak story. Ben even wrote a story about it in 2nd grade! Joe also did wonders for your self esteem. He would catch you looking your absolute worst, and he would always tell you how great you looked! It is so sad and painful now, but in time we hope it will become easier for you to remember him with nothing but smiles and laughter. I know we all will. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love - Bridget, Charlie, Abby, Ben, Caroline, Henry and Charlie

I got to know Joe while he was working at my agency in 2006 and we hit it off really well.Even though Joe had a few years on me we had a couple of things in common. We were Irish and we loved to tell stories.Even after Joe finished up at my workplace we made it a point to keep in touch. The last time I saw Joe was late in the summer while taking a lunch time walk dowtown. It was great to see him.Joe was one who could always brighten a day with that great smile of his..My sincere condolences go out to the family.Joe spoke of you often.I will miss him, already do.

To Joe's family: I worked with Joe for a number of years when he was with the Health Care Financing Administration. My colleagues and I had remarked recently that we hadn't seen him lately. His smile and humor were missed when he retired from government. I can only imagine how much you will miss him.

To the Welby Family:

I send condolences to you on the loss of your loved one. I knew Joe from the Press Box Pub when he would come in every St. Patrick's Day to play his squeezebox with my guitar and we'd get everybody up dancing and singing. My prayers are with you all;and to Joe, may the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Dear Mrs. Welby, Kerry and Maura, I am so sorry to hear about your husband/dad's passing. I will never forget all the great summer memories, the trips to gull pond, the countless ice cream cones, "father badaahd", and trying my best to make him the perfect cape codder. Well, your dad was the perfect "cape coddah", was always so fun and generous, and told the greatest stories. And I bet it's the Joe show up in heaven right now and he's got a fresh audience to love him as much as we do. God bless you all. Love, Hilary, Mike, and Emma

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Joe. I was a classmate of Joe's at St. Stephen CCHS. I will always smile when I hear the name "Joe Welby" , because all the gang at school loved Joe. I will not be able to pay my respects to the family and friends due to geographical barriers since I have moved to Montana but I will always remember Joe
God Bless all, Tom Casale
