Jonathan Hatch Obituary

HATCH, Jonathan Noyes 53 years of age, of Saco ME, passed away on Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a long illness culminating in a brief hospitalization. Jonathan was born on February 16th, 1955 in Concord, MA, the youngest of four children of Richard and Mary-Jacquelin Hatch. After graduating from Concord Carlisle Regional High School in 1973, he worked for several years in Concord, before migrating to the Portland Maine area in 1979. He eventually settled in Saco where he lived from 1982 on. The center of Jonathan's life was always family and friends. He spent virtually all his adult years with his wife, the love of his life, Rhonda Ruggiero, formerly of Concord, MA, and later their two daughters, Kendall and Haven. Jonathan's boundless energy and enthusiasm for work and play was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was never without projects and activities. He worked for over 30 thirty years for Fedex, starting in the Boston area and later was part of the team who first expanded the business to Maine. He was a skilled craftsman and home remodeler, skills learned at early age from his father. His days spent in the close-knit community around the family's beach house at York, ME were among his happiest. Aside from his wife, two daughters and parents, he is also survived by his sisters Carrie Flood and Becky Meyers and his brother Myrick Hatch. Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, Sept. 29th the First Parish Congregational Church in Saco, ME, followed by a brief ceremony for close friends and family at the First Parish Cemetery in York, ME. Arrangements are under the guidance of Independent Death Care, 471 Deering Ave., Portland. Online condolences to the family may expressed and a guestbook signed at ww.independentdeathcare.com. Memorials donations may be made to The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland (www.arlgp.org).

I remember when I first met Jonathan a few years ago. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. This summer was great, and at least his last months were having fun with family and friends. I remember being at Perkin's Cove, Fort Foster, etc. He was a great man, and I feel privileged to have known him. Hang in there!

Rhonda, children and the Hatch family - It is with sadness I read of Jonathan's passing. I remember a fun, full of life teenager, who adored Rhonda from an early age. How wonderful you shared a life together, though too brief. To Carrie, Ricky and the rest of the Hatch family, my deepest sympathy. May you all be sustained by loving memories of Jonathan.

Dear Rhonda, Kendall, and Haven,
I'm not sure that I could ever find the words to express how truly sorry I am for your loss. Jonathan was a great man. I remember summer mornings when us girls were little and how he would make us ten million pancakes. We ate every last one. I'll be here for you for whatever you need. I never stopped loving you all. I only hope that everyone who knew him can honor his memory every day.
My best to all of you.
