Dear Beaton Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Irene. I only met her once at the memorial service for her son Joe. He was my college professor. I felt like I knew a lot about her though as she was the subject of many of Joe's great stories. He would often lovingly mention her in lectures.
So, even though I did not know her, I am saddened by the loss as she was from the many stories I heard, a wonderful person. Her son Joe was the greatest man I ever met. Her being Joe's mom I know she did a great job in raising her kids. She definitely helped make this world a better place.

Dear Tom, Maureen, and families:
I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was always a pleasure to visit with when she came to in to see me. Knowing that she was the wife of a favorite former teacher and mother to a high school classmate added to her charm. Please accept my deepest sympathies. She will be missed.
