Dear Joe, Ann, Maureen and Emily,
I was so saddened to read that Lois has passed away. I graduated with her from Niskayuna and remember her as such a sweet, fun, friendly person. Most recently we met again, after her diagnosis, at the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center in Greenwich, NY. I wish we could have been closer friends through the years as she was such an example of strength and courage. We had a wonderful chat. She was an example of how faith can give strength and peace. I pray you all will feel this too and find comfort in knowing how much she is loved. May God's healing grace be with you in this sorrowful time. Sincerely, Laura Lovell Mitchell

Dear Joe, Maureen and Emily, I am shocked and sad to learn that my old friend and room mate from Kendall Street has passed away. She was the most energetic and joyful person I ever met and I shall never forget how we sang along to Bruce Springsteen's Hungry Heart and how happy she was when she met you Joe. I would so love to have seen her again. You are all in my thoughts and I wish you strength and love to manage the days ahead.

Dear Joe and family,
I am so sorry about Lois's passing and the long struggle she went through with her cancer. I will always remember her warm and cheerful smile and easy laugh. She was always so happy, positive, and up on life. She was such alot of fun in high school. We enjoyed playing on the field hockey teams together, golfing during the summers at the Mohawk Club, and just sharing alot of special times with the high school and neighborhood gang. I always enjoyed her friendship during those years. Throughout the years, I always enjoyed hearing news of the Marble family through other Nisky friends and my parents, or seeing each other at a reunion.
I know this is such a difficult time for you and your family. I hope that it helps you to know that Lois was a very special person and touched the hearts of many.

Dear Ann,

I am very sorry for the loss of your mother. I was talking to one of the girls that went to school with us back in elementary school. She told me about your mother and the battle of breast cancer. My mother is also sorry for your loss. She remembers the chaperoned field trips from IC school and how my mother, your mother and the other parents would talk on the trips. I am deeply sorry for you and your families loss and will keep you in heart and mind.

With Thoughts and Love,

Dear Joe, Ann, Maureen, and Emily,

I was so very to sad to hear about Lois. I loved her so very very much. Lois was a best freind to me when I needed it most. I will never forget the days in Schenectady, nor the weeks she spent with me during the summers in NH. She truly made my childhood a happy one. Again she was there for me when I also battled breast cancer. She will be sadly missed, but never ever forgotten!

I wish you all the peace that memories of her will bring to you. She was such a special person, and you were so lucky to have her as a wife and mom.

Her spirit will live forever in me. She gave so much more during her life time than most people ever do. I love you Lois!

Love and healing to you all!

Although, I didn't really know Lois like many others, I realized, early, that she was an incredibly strong, loving and selfless person. She always had a smile upon her face and positive outlook on life, never letting on to what she might be feeling inside. She was a lovely person and held a special spot in so many hearts. She will, truly, be missed by us all. May her memory be eternal.

There are no words to describe what Lois brought to our support group and to me personally. Suffice it to say that we join you in missing her deeply.
There will never be another Lois. (except "a little of her" in each of you girls, as your Dad would say..)
I wish you peace,

Our prayers are with the Reilly and Marble family. I lost my most inspirational gardner; we all lost a truly inspirational person. A small poem in rememberance of you Lois:

God's Garden
God looked around his garden, and found an empty place. Then he looked down upon the earth, and saw your smiling but tired face. He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, for he always takes the best. He knew despite your courage that you were suffering and in pain, He knew that you would not get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb; So he closed your weary eyelids, and whispered"Peace be Thine." It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. ~author unknown~

Dear Joe, Ann, Maureen, and Emily,
Your wife and mom expressed her love of you and her joy in being with you so often. Since her soul and spirit are everlasting, so is her love for you all.
Joe, she told us how her mom and your mom were long-time friends and that you and she had been "together" since before birth because your mothers were pregnant at the same time.
Ann, your mother was happy for you when you got your Patriots internship this past summer and proud of your BC athletics, and especially of the woman you've become.
Maureen, your mother proudly told us about your "5" in the AP calculus exam, your playing rugby, and your thoughtful choice to attend her alma mater.
Emily, when I first met your mother in late 2006, you were a freshman at Marlborough High. She told us you were the only freshman on the girls' varisty basketball team. She was so happy to support you and your AAU teams also.
I believe her love and support of all of you all will be with you always.

Dearest Reilly's and Marble's: We all feel so deeply sorry for your loss. Lois was our trooper and good friend. We are proud to have known her and many of you. I was lucky to have worked out with Lois, and we are lucky to have taught and coached all three daughters, and shared coaching duties with Joe (Rick Petino). So many IC memories. Maureen, Ann and Emily are true reflections of Lois and were the light in her life. Joe fought quietly with Lois and is the true definition of wonderful husband and best friend. We wish we could bring you all brighter days ahead. We all share in your sadness and remember all of the happiness that Lois brought to all of us. Always in our prayers, forever in our hearts!

Joe.Ann.Maureen and Emily,

With a heavy heart I write this note. There is nothing I can say to make any of this better. We've lost the most courageous woman I have ever known and I am so proud to be able to have called her my freind. We were in Kiawah Island golfing when we got the news. Just to let you know I hit one into the ocean for her. I'd think she'd like that.
With all my heart,

Always so much fun to spend time with. Always so positive. I'll remember those days EVERY TIME I golf. I'll never forget how wonderful you are. I will really miss you.... I love you.
My heart bleeds for you Joe, Ann, Maureen and Emily. May God bless you and comfort you.

Dear Joe, Anne, Maureen and Emily,
My heart is full of sadness to hear the news of Lois' passing. She was a great and wonderful woman, full of life and joy We had many a laughs and adventures during our early years. Although we had drifted apart and not spoken in a long time, I always remembered how happy she was when she found her soul mate, Joe and began their family. She was a woman who understood that family comes above everything else. And with that as her highest priority she was able to succeed in anything and everything she touched. The earths light shines a little dimmer with her passing.
All my love and sympathy to you all.

Joe, Ann, Maureen, Emily, and family,

Thankfully, we all have memories of Lois, all of the good times, that we can call on to keep her with us forever. I have only done Karaoke once in my life, and it was with Lois! Karaoke, dancing, doing the worm, those first prize Halloween costumes (the laundry baskets and the fall leaves being two of my favorites), whatever it was, it was done with Lois-gusto. Lois will always live on in our great memories, we are lucky to have shared her life. She was a wonderful friend and I will miss her very much. I told her she was my heroine, to be able to keep so positive and strong throughout the years with such spirit...she was truly amazing.

With love and caring,

In the Jewish custom, we say:
"May the memory of your loved one always be for a blessing"
We were all blessed to know Lois - and even during times of great sorrow, we take comfort knowing that Lois is completely healed. In time our cherished memories will come with smiles and laughter - until then, may G-d comfort you all.
