My parents were huge fans of Joe's and took me and my brother Eddie to Lennie's and other gigs to hear him with Harvey Mason. He made fabulous music and inspired me to study music and fall in love with Jazz. I remember his smile and laugh like as if it were yesterday; he had a fabulous, up-beat outlook on life. Sorry to hear about his passing, but glad to read from these entries how loved and remembered his is.

Sweetheart, it is one year and 16 days since you took your last breath on this earth. There are no words adequate in the English language to describe how deeply and desperately I miss you. You were everything I could ever have wanted in a husband...and more.

Joe Bucci was most certainly "a man of considerable notes" and an expert at improvisation on the keyboard. He was married to my dear first cousin, Carrol--she was originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she first met Joe--Carrol being my mother's brother's daughter. What a super couple Joe and Carrol made: They were so perfectly "in tune" with one another in words, thoughts and deeds, and the "harmony" of their lives together will never pass away. I will always hold in my memory the many pleasant times that Joe and Carrol came up to New Brunswick, Canada (by car) to visit with me and my mother and father (who were also both musical); and also to visit and stay with a close friend of my family, Ivan, who treasured Joe and Carrol's company so very much. We all felt like Joe was truly one of our blood relations and we certainly treated him as such. He was so kind and talkative with me and my parents and, when they died, Joe expressed such warm heart-felt sympathy and understanding towards me and my brother Don, which was a huge comfort to me. I always admired you, Joe, for the outstanding and rare talent that you demonstrated, along with your amazing ability to consistently hold your listeners' interest. Thanks for being such a wonderful husband to my cousin Carrol, and thanks for all the laughter and jazz organ music you gave to the many people you came in contact with over the years. Your dazzling musical renditions and gentle spirit will live on forever both in this life and in the next one. My friend Ivan, my brother Don and I will profoundly miss you. - Your cousin-in-law from Canada

Mrs. Bucci and Family,
Although I did not know your husband personally, I have been a long time fan of his wonderful music. It is obvious that his musicianship may have only been surpassed by his love of family. I pray for peace to you and yours (Is. 26:3 & Phil. 4:7).

Dear Carol,
Rose and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Joe. I considered him to be a close friend and one of the best musicians I ever had the pleasure to perform with. It's comforting to know that his music will live on forever. He had not only a unique style but a musicality and feel for jazz that's so rare. Rose and I will miss him. We'll keep you and Joe in our thoughts and prayers.

I believe that my mom's cousin was Joseph. My mom is Eleanor Grace. Her mother was Rose Carter who married into the Bucci family - I think Henry? so I believe that this the the Bucci family I'm related to somehow. I would love to know this side of the family. My mom oddly enough suffered a stroke on October 3rd. She is now over at New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn which is where my sister was after her illness in 1976. I hope and pray that you all enjoyed Joseph's tremendously accomplished life. God Bless you all...when you get an opportunity I would love an email back.

To the Bucci Family, On behalf of the entire Sweeney family, please accept our sincerest sympathy on your loss of Joe. I fondly recall how much my mother, Nora Barbetta Sweeney, enjoyed listening to Joe's music and how proud she was of Joe and of his talent. My grandmother, Rose Bucci Barbetta, was sister to Columbus, Joe's grandfather. Although our paths may not have crossed as often as we would have desired, please know that we hold the entire Bucci family, including Joe's sisters and brothers, close to our hearts, especially at this saddest of times.

Dear Carrol and Joe Jr.
I'm so sorry to hear that Joe has passed. It had been a while since
I'd spoken with Joe but I'm so happy to have shared a final moment
with him recently. He'd been on my mind so I searched the internet,
finally finding Joe Jr. who put me in touch. I just wanted to thank
him and say how much I really appreciated working with him during my
college years in Boston. Joe was a personal and musical mentor and
playing with him definitely prepared me for the world music scene.
I'll forever treasure playing with Joe Bucci and I'm so happy I was
able to tell him that one more time.
I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Joe will now reside in
Heaven but his music will forever be appreciated on earth..
May he rest in Peace..
Warmly,
Harvey Mason
