I had no idea that Ed had passed away. I only stumbled upon this wonderful tribute when I was looking to catch up with him. I met Ed a number of years ago at a meeting where he spoke about his work as a biotech recruiter. As a young faculty member I was most interested to learn and he was so kind to teach. He shared his slides with me and helped a number of my students with their job searches. I am truly sorry to learn that he passed. He really was a remarkable person!

I can't believe it's been a year since Ed passed away. Our working together at FASEB meetings will always be a part of wonderful memories. I continue to miss his kindness, humor, and intelligence. - Judy Blumenthal

I didn't know Ed as well as I knew some of my other family members but its still sad to know he is gone. I remember little trips we would take to visit him and the rest of the family, we always had fun. Its so hard to lose family, it just doesn't seem fair. I love my family =)

I was recently in the Massachusetts area and thought of Ed and how he recruited me to the Boston area for Factory Mutual. I am saddened to learn of his death and send my best to his family.

I first met Ed back in the mid 70's racing at Bryar Motorsports Park. The exact introduction, I do not remember, but, being editor of Pit TAlk magazine at that time, I had the opportunity to meet many racers.
But one of our initial contacts, was that he gave me a a number of really good racing shots of me racing my MGA... but, also included were some proof prints of other racers, and some woman taking times in the pit lane. He must of spun around in his location, and with his telephoto and shot... I had to inform that he just took some rally nice pictures of my wife.. I think he was a little embarassed, but, we had a real good laugh... and have remained friends eve since.

The last I heard of Ed, he called me looking for a connection for a VW air cooled engine... of course to assist someone else in their automotive project...

Ed was always there with a helping hand, giving support and just being one of those delights you find in our sport.. and life.

Be good my friend....

I consider the times that I had with Ed as truly golden times. Racing and laughing he was always a guide and a great friend. Although I have not seen Ed for a number of years I will always treasure the golden years.

I am so sad to learn of Ed's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ed at Genzyme and he was a true professional, who helped me immensely. He even let me drive his Porsche up the Bose Mountain!
He gave me a gift of a very special bottle of wine that I have been saving and I plan to finally open it tonight and toast him. Ed's kindness has left a mark on my life.

My big brother did so much for me. I am lucky that I have my brothers and sister to look up to. They have all taught me so much. Ed was the oldest and a wise caring man. He was always checking to make sure that everything was OK for me just like my mom and dad did. I look up to him still as an adventurer - traveling for business and pleasure all over and racing cars.

He gave me a nickname a long ways back. It was "Dawg". I think it was because he would not have a dog at home and I somehow filled that role being the littlest brother kicking around.

I did not know his professional life that well - though he did give me much advice about resume writing and interviewing - and I am touched by the comments that his colleagues have posted and sent to Bev. I love him even more that I know he gave his love, humor, support, and advice to everyone he interacted with.

My condolences to Beverly and the rest of Ed's family. As a fellow long time SCCA member, former administrator and driver, I shall miss Ed, who will be remembered as a cheerful supporter and willing worker who encouraged others to have fun and do their best. There is something special within the racing community that draws us together as a family for competition, hard work, occasional frustration, but most of all that feeling of accomplishment and camaraderie that results when folks of different backgrounds and occupations join together in a common purpose. Our community is a better place thanks to Ed.

With a heavy heart we bid Ed farewell. We've shared many special moments. It's when we lose someone close to us we realize just how short and precious life is. God be with you Beverly and all of Ed's family as you deal with your grief.

Ed was a wonderful, giving human being. He was always there to help with a kind word, good advice, and a great laugh. He will be missed very much.
