We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Tom. He was a wonderful gentleman who always made you feel welcomed. We, as a family, were blessed to have met him through Maryclaire. Ray and I, as well as Bridget and Marie shared many happy times with him. He was a good, kind, and thoughtful man who made the world a better place. Now I am sure that Maryclaire and Tom are making heaven a little more interesting.
Sorry we could not be there to express our thoughts. Ray is recovering from a knee replacement which he had on September 29th. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

As the Latin program was discontinued before I reached High School, I was not fortunate enough to be one of Mr. Eager's students. Knowing him for the last few years was a gift. I am deeply saddened by this loss yet realize that I am fortunate to have know him, even for so short a time.

Tom enriched all our lives in so many ways. I am grateful to have known him, first as a teacher/advisor then as a family friend.

I picture him playing a game of cards with MC as the laugh over some old memory.

I didn't know Tom very well. I took care of him while in the hospital on 7 East. While he was there we became very close. Everyone wanted to take care of him. He was a fun loving guy that knew how to make you smile even when you were having a bad night. He never put himself first. He made everyone smile!! I probably put on 10 pounds from all the chocolate he gave to me! But it was well worth it to be able to know a guy like him. He was one of a kind! When we heard the news, I'm not sure there wasn't one nurse who didn't cry. I know I did. To his family, I'm so sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies to you. May God help you find peace in this hard and sad time.

Mr. Eagar was the best teacher I've ever had. He really cared about me as a student, and he always came through for me. I saw him over the summer, and I wish that I could have seen him more. He had a great sense of humor, and he was a very caring man. I'm glad that he is no longer suffering, but I will miss him very much.

To "Mr. Eager's" Family,
He was my most favorite high school teacher. He was kind, caring and actually made learining Latin fun! I have thought of him many times during the last 40+ years. I am honored to have been one of his students (Wilmington High School Class of 1964).

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome you.""
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......""My day was not in vain.""
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Tom was a respected colleague and, although recent encounters were few, he always had time to chat and catch up on old times. He was a good man in the best sense of the term and I considered him a friend.

I taught at Sandwich High School for many years, along with Tom. His humor always made the Teacher's Room a more fun place to relax. He was dedicated to the Sandwich Education Association, being President for many years, and also to the Mass Teacher's Association. Several of us would attend the convention together every year in Boston. Tom always knew the issues and the people running for office. I enjoyed working with him. My life was enriched by knowing him.
