It is Patriot's Day, and the Boston Marathon is being run today. It is a beautiful, sunny, cool day - a perfect day for the runners and you. I know, as always, you are somewhere along the marathon route - probably at Wellesley College - enthusiastically cheering the runners along!

Christmas, 2009
Dear Mom,
For the first time in weeks, Dad filled the bird feeder. He is delighted to watch the birds flock around it. When I see the grateful and happy birds, I think of you and how much you loved seeing the birds at the bird feeder and in your yard.
As Christmas day approaches, you are ever in my thoughts. The remembrance of all the beautiful Christmases that you prepared for us over the many years is ever present. The remembrance of you in the days before Christmas, on Christmas day and on the following days is deep in my heart. Your generous heart and joyous soul, I carry with me and will always be part of me. Deeply loving, you are deeply loved.

Dearest Fi,
Nov. 21st, your birthday.....I will be thinking of you every
minute but that's not unusual. My love and thoughts are
with you always.
Spoke to Janet and Karen....they, along with Ted will be
going out to your favorite restaurant to celebrate your day.
You will be with them in spirit. They sooooo loved you.
The six of us will be together Thanksgiving Day and you

I miss you so much. I think about you every day all day.
My relationship with you was one of the most wonderful things in my whole life. You were always so sweet and loving to me. You were supportive of me always, and you were always completely inspiring.
In my mind I see you sitting there smiling lovingly at me. This image of you, I carry with me as I lead my day, each day.

Dearest Fi,
October 10th.....I can't believe it's been a year already. I
think of you every day and am sending you all my love along
with many, many hugs and kisses. I miss you so much, my Darling. Your family are taking care of one another so
beautifully. Karen calls me every day....what a love she is!!!! I also spoke to Janet the other day...she is managing
things pretty well...and, of course, dear Ted.....spoke to
him today,too. They all miss you so much. You have left
us all with so many loving thoughts of you. I can't tell you how lonesome I feel at times, not being able to talk
and laugh with you, but at least I can keep in touch this
way. I miss and love you so much, my darling..

Today, on Mother’s Day, with Dad by my side, I placed a red rose at your grave in remembrance of the Mother whom I love and miss with all my heart. The warmth of the brilliant sun, a cool breeze, the blue sky, peace and beauty surrounded you. Forever in our thoughts and our hearts, you are with us always. You loved and appreciated life teaching us to love and appreciate life, and you gave love generously to each of us. Your love lingers with us and enfolds us comforting us even now in our sorrow as we mourn for your loss.

Here it is May 5th - your Anniversary - such an important day
for all of us. Been thinking of you all day and want you to know your sweet daughters took Ted our for dinner to celebrate with him and they spent the whole evening talking

Here it is Christmas and we all feel so sad
but we do know that you are here in spirit.

Thank you, Mom, for the gifts of love and life, for loving me all my years, and for allowing me to share your last years with you which was a time of beauty, sadness and overwhelming love.
Mom, this Thanksgiving is the first that you are gone from our sight. Your artistic exuberance, instinctive wisdom, genuine warmth and JOIE de VIVRE have flown away. In spring, summer and fall your beloved red cardinal dazzled in the trees outside your windows. When you left, your cardinal flew away from your trees. You are no longer here, and yet everywhere you are here.
Mom, please know how much you are remembered, loved and deeply missed.
On this Thanksgiving Day, Mom, I give special thanks for you with appreciation, warmth, love and gratitude.

Dear Aunt Fi,
Happy birthday, and happy rest. You have always been a very strong woman. You died with great dignity. Thanks for taking care of your family as you have, and for extending your love so effusively to your nieces and nephews. I believe you continue to take care of your family by the strength you have passed on. Your sweet loving smile and words of good cheer are clearly missed by those closest to you. But you have given strength, and you have shown life, so life will endure. We will honor you forever with our loving memories and our living.

Aunt Fi,
When I think of you, I will remember your face and eyes that had so much love and unconditional acceptance radiating from them. I will always remember how sweetly you welcomed me into your family. When around you, I felt like I was an old, beloved friend rather than a new family member. Thank you teaching me about experiencing delight in others. What a wonderful gift to the world!
