Doris Bunshaft Obituary

BUNSHAFT, Doris (Wittkin) Age 87, of Newton after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, October 16, 2008. Beloved wife of Robert Bunshaft. Loving mother of Gillian B. Anderson of Washington, DC, Robin Fan & her husband Samuel Fan of Waban and Robert Bunshaft, Jr. & his wife Alexandra of Carlsbad, CA. Devoted grandmother of Jessica & Madde Fan. Loving aunt of Roger Wasby & family and Stephen Wasby. Doris, as a young girl, was an accomplished dancer and equestrian. She received her BA from Wheelock College and an MA in Psycology from Boston University. As an adult, she developed a passion for tennis and acted at one time as head of women tennis umpires in New England. As a psychologist, she became head of the psychology department of Boston's Juvenile Court and after leaving the Court, continued as a psychologist for Mass. Department of Youth Services. Interment will be private. The family will receive visitors at the home of Robert Bunshaft on Wednesday, October 22 from 3pm-8pm and Thursday, October 23 from 3pm-7pm. Donations may be made to the VNA Care Network & Hospice, 175 Highland Ave., Needham, 02494. A memorial Service will be held at a later date. Levine Chapels, Brookline 617-277-8300

My sincere sympathy to Robert Bunshaft and family. I worked with Doris for many years at the Boston Juvenile Court Clinic. She was a tower of strength and a wonderful role model. She will be missed dearly...
