To All of the McElhinney Family

I recently came across Dan's notice and I was saddened to hear of his passing. I am so sorry that I did not know at the time or I would surely have been there.

He and Mary always made me feel as if I was a part of their family. I will never forget their kindnesses and all of the laughs and good times shared in their company.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I will always remember the special times with Dan and the family.

Thanks for the memories, Dan and rest in peace with your loved ones.

With Love,
Ruthie Johnson Dean

Dan was my Sergeant at District 4 during the 80s,what a great guy and a great character. Such a sense of humor. Dan came to my Fathers' Fathers' wake in 87'. I'll always remember him with an occasional prayer.

To the McElhinney Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Dan was a terrific neighbor and I will always remember seeing him on his porch during the summers with his little white doggy. It always brightened my day every morning to wave hello as I was on my way to work. My husband really enjoyed talking with Dan and hearing his stories. He will be greately missed by us. The neighborhood will never be the same.

Love,
The Fedukowski-Thomson Family across the street in Hull, MA

I have wanted to write somthing for so long but could not find the words until now. It's difficult to deal with the realities of life, especially when you lose the last grandparent you have. The 1 that we all get our strength and heritage from. The individual we are proud to say is our grandfather. As grandchildren we look to where we derive and where we get our unique individualties. I look at my cousins Kevin and Michael, who I don't know as well as I should and I see my grandfather more then ever and his strength and the raw Mcehinney in them. Great guys!! His stature and respect for life, goodness and ambition. My cousins Derek and Amy, 3,000 miles away, that light up any time they are around this great man or speak of him. Auntie Denise, Tacey and the kids that adored Grand Dad and loved him and 'Ma' so deeply. I could go on and on, there are so many of us. For me, Timmy, the trouble maker, the bundle of energy I was called, the one everyone thought may not blossom and did. Well, it's because my roots were concrete, my foundation hereditary and my heart from my grandfather and grandmother, two special people. Two staples in what we are and where we come from. I simply will miss my grandfather, my Rock. The man I am grateful to for what I am today. I have been blessed with incredible heritage, we all have.

Sue and Family,
Here is a just a little something to share -
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
whatever we were to each other
that we still are
call me by my old familiar name
speak to me in the easy way
which you always used
put no difference in your tone
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together
pray smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
without the trace of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
it is the same as it ever was
there is unbroken continuity
why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you
somewhere very near
just around the corner
All is well

You are in my thoughts!!
