Joan, Jeanne (you cannot think of one without the other)and myself became friends at the Cummings School in the fifth grade. Joan was the one I played jump rope with, roller skated with, jacks with. We visited after school at City Hall to see their parents who worked in the VA Admin office and then onto stores down town with whatever change we might have. Vividly, I remember Joan's love for Mac, the bridal shower, wedding, birth of Sharon, building their home, birth of Robbie.
Our "Club" was formed in 1964 and we have met every month since then - forty-four years. I find solace that Joan has made her journey to join Mac, her greatest love.

Dear Sharon, Robbie and families,
I am so sorry about the passing of your Mom she was such a great lady and I enjoyed her visits to the salon every Friday. I enjoyed watching her and Jeanne interact with each other. They were two peas in a pod. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and spoke of them often. She was so excited about Billy and Kate's Wedding Day. What beautiful memories you will have of her from that day. Please accept my condolences and find comfort knowing that she is with her beloved "Mac" her heart is no longer broken she is now in his loving arms. We at Fantasy Hair Design will miss her very much and we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.
Love, Kathy and the staff of Fantasy

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Joan's passing and offer my heartfelt condolences to Robbie, Sharon, Joyce, Jean and the rest of the family. I grew up across the street and Joan was about the nicest person you could know. She was so good to all the kids in the neighborhood and always made you feel welcome and comfortable in her home. She used to always tell me my hair looked like a million bucks. Looking back at pictures of myself from those days, I'm not sure if she actually meant it as a compliment or if she just felt bad for me (ha). I will miss her a great deal but know she is now in a better place with Mac at her side.
