Dear Lisa,
Jim's passing was announced this evening, November 11, at our Northeast Section, IFT meeting. As the present Chair of the Section Scholarship Committee and I rode to Salem, MA, I happened to recall how Jim served us so well on the Committee. The Chair, Liisa Holcomb, reminded me that Jim was very ill, and I recalled that I hadn't communicated with him for much too long a time to check on his wellbeing. Then the news! I deeply regret not hearing about this until after the services were held. I never knew he was a fellow Episcopalian!
I first met Jim while he was a student at UMASS. Quite simply, I instantly liked him in general and was most impressed with his work ethic. After he had established himself at Welch's, I was still Scholarship Committee Chair and had a vacancy on the Committee. He gladly accepted my invitation to serve. I was saddened when he told me he was unable to continue due to illness.
Jim was so thrilled when Marie and Kayla came into the world, and he did not hold back his joy about them whenever we were with him.
I know it is difficult now, but as a poem goes "Ye shall have a song!"
I bid you God's Comfort and Peace.

Dear Irene and Phil:
I was so sad to learn about Jim's passing. I just found out about it today. I talked to you just about a week ago, Phil, and you were telling me how sick he had been, and Ken Clark also had told me about his illness. My heart goes out to you both and to his family. I can't even imagine how hard it is to lose a child. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Your friend, Carmen

Jim was a great guy that I remember clearly from grade school and high school. Always had a great attitude and was a good friend. Even as a kid he was a sensitive and pleasant person to be around. We had a great time goofing around in art class and chemistry. I am saddened by his passing but was pleased to see that he had a lovely family and an enjoyable life. He will be missed.
