Dear Janet, Joan, and other family members - Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your father. I read of his death in the Walpole Times, which I still read, even though I live in North Carolina. I remember the fun you all had growing up in your large, loving, boisterous household, with your father at the helm. Peace and Godspeed to all of you,

I have a memory of Mr. Collins from when I was young...even though i didn't know him very well, he will always be the one who kept me from flying down Bowker St and into traffic on North St. My friend and I liked to rollerskate when we were little and thought it cool to go wheeling down the hill and stop before traffic. I tripped one day and fell almost into the street. a nice kind man pulled his car over and helped me up and made sure i was ok. It wasn't until i saw him several years later when my brother Greg became good friends with Stephen that I realized who he was! So thank you Mr. Collins for being the kind person you were and the wonderful second dad to my brother Greg. You will be greatly missed.

Dear Joni &family, I just was made aware of your loss, I am truly sorry for the loss. I can still remember my mother having the best times of her life talking about the great fun and buy's she had at dad's auctions. As past President of the Mass Auctioneers Association I used to ask about your father to the older auctioneers and your father always had high praise from his fellow auctioneers, I know that the Colonel is in heaven up at the podium with his gavel selling away

Dad, I love you very much and thank you for living your life with humor, a sense of fun, and such an awesome love. I will try to honor you by living my life with the kindness and understanding that you show to everybody. Your openness about your feelings on dying (and everything else) are now a great comfort to me, and I realize that you stayed long enough to help us grieve your passing while you were still physically here to comfort us. There is so much I have to say about you… and so much love that I feel for you… and so much I still want to talk with you about… but I understand it is your time as someday it will be mine. I am grateful for all the gifts you have given and all the time we have shared. I wish you much love and peace as you continue on your journey and will keep you in my heart, prayers, and thoughts. I love you very much and am forever happy that you are my father.

Hello Cousins...
A couple days ago, I made an entry into Uncle Ed's guest book and realized I signed it with my married name, which you probably wouldn't recognize on a good day; Dorothy Lapham. I should of signed, Dorothy or Dodo Collins.
I can really understand what you're going through right now. Time does help. I get a little comfort in knowing Dad's up in heaven with two of his brothers, life really does come full circle. Now, Uncle Ed is not only with his brothers again, he's with Aunt Shirley, the love of his life!
Keep the faith you guys, I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers.
Love, Dorothy Collins Lapham

"Mr. C" as Greg always called him--a spiritual, faith-filled man with a golden heart who always had a big smile and hug for me whenever I saw him. He had a way to make you feel comfortable. Thanks, Ed, for being a loving & kind friend to my Son. I'll be ever grateful. To all you children--you all are blest with the wonderful God-given attributes of your Mom & Dad. God Bless you all & your families. Peace! Love, Joan EB-Hardigan

Mr. Collins, I wish you rest and peace with Mrs.C. You were a great neighbor and friend who cared for so many children on Ginley Road as if they were your own.
