Eric Var Obituary

VAR, Eric E. Of Framingham, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, October 18, 2008 in his home. He was 45. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Eric had been a software engineer for twenty five years and most recently employed by Computer Associates in Framingham. Eric was a 1981 graduate of Waltham High School, a 1985 graduate of Syracuse University and in his spare time he enjoyed wind surfing, music, nature, hiking, and juggling. Eric leaves his parents Robert E. and Janet E. (Hayes) Var of Waltham and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial donations may be made to The Hunger Project, 5 Union Square West, New York, NY 10003. Funeral Services and burial were private. Arrangements by The Joyce Funeral Home, WALTHAM. Eric: A good man, and an even better worker. I'm very sad and empty after getting news of his passing.
I worked with Eric for a few years at CA. Often times I'd see him working well after hours. He had a plethora of skills and a great attitude. He was also willing to stand up for the right thing, even if it were at his own expense - something not common in the corp world.
Eric will be missed by many.
Fare ye well my friend.
