Joseph Arcuri Obituary

ARCURI, Joseph F. "Joe" Of West St., Attleboro, died unexpectedly Tuesday at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Gail (Palmer) Arcuri, they had been married for over 37 years. He was born in Utica, New York, a son of Mary Louise (Glouse) Arcuri and the late John J. Arcuri. He was a graduate of Proctor High School in Utica New York, a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Joe was an Amtrak employee for over 35 years, most recently an Acella Operator for the last 7 yrs. He has lived in Attleboro since 1990 coming from New York City. He had attended St. Stephen's Church, was a member of the North Attleboro Gun Club. Loved animals, especially cats, our Ferrell cat family was well cared for over the years, we rescued about 50 kittens, all of which have good homes now. He loved the Railroad from a meager start in Hudson NY, to being in charge of the Empire Division to NY Penn Station, Boston Road Foreman, but the operation of the Acella at 150 MPH was the best. He never forgot the people on his journey up the ladder to success. Amtrak will miss him almost as much as his wife will. Besides his wife he is survived by his mother Mary Louise (Glouse) Sears and her husband Thomas of Utica New York, 2 sisters Aggie Rahn and her husband Tom of Utica New York, Beth Arcuri of Albuquerque New Mexico, his uncles Dick Arcuri of Anaheim Ca, Philip Arcuri of Utica New York, Pat Arcuri of Las Vegas Nevada, several nieces and nephews. Dear Aggie and family, We are so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved brother, Joey. Both Anthony and I remember him well. We know how close you were to him and I loved your stories of traveling with him when he was a conductor. He accomplished so much in his short life, more than most of us. Again, please give our heartfelt condolences to your mom, grandmother, sister, and all the rest of your dear family. No words can ever express our sympathy for Joey's untimely passing.
