Cathy,
I remember the twinkle in Jim's eyes when he mentioned your name and the future he saw for the both of you. He wrote me that he had no regrets and bragged about Pat's & Dan's successes.
Pat & Dan, Your dad & I flew many missions together, please know that no one was more courageous. His fellow Marines will not forget Jim's zest for life, self-discipline and his gentlemanly qualities. We have all lost with Jim's passing, but none more deeply than you. Please accept my condolences, Ed Walsh US Marine

Jim, in my short time of knowing him, has an infectious sense of humor and he easily sets a person at ease. Yet he can be serious when it requires him to and will let you know in no time when he is. Happy hunting, Jim!
To Catherine, Patrick and Daniel, my heartfelt condolences, live the legacy that he leaves behind. Be happy for him. Do him proud!!
Namaste.

Tom just informed me of Jim's death, he saw Nate and Johnny over at Pontillo's. Shock and sadness can't convey the way in which this news made me feel. Standing next to Jim on the deck at Swain, watching the boys win the section V title this past winter, his passion but also perspective as to what sports truely mean in the development of a child was so genuine and inspiring. Also his candid advice for my own son's skiing, helped me to see his technical knowledge of the sport equalled his passion. The last time I saw Jim was at a tennis match, where Dan was competing and his love of competition was so evident. Jim's love of life could be detected by the sparkle in his eyes. My best to you Cathy, Dan and Patrick. You have all been such kind supporters of Tom through the years, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dan and I met Jim and Cathy when we joined the Tennis Club of Rochester. Jim was a great tennis player and a great athlete. He was very kind to play mixed doubles with me (a struggling 3.0 player!) during our world team tennis matches. He was a great competitor but as much as he loved winning, it was easy to tell that his single greatest love was his family. His face would light up when talking about his sons. He was very proud of them. Cathy - our sympathies are extended to you and your family.

Always a supportive, loving, caring man that will be remembered by me and my family forever and always. I can still see him standing at the finish line at our ski races....supporting all of us just as he was supported the past 2 years by everyone that loved him so much....you will always and forever remembered Mr Halligan

My memories of Jim by the sidelines of the Pittsford Mustangs games, and of the Sutherland varsity, are indelible in terms of his generosity, light-heartedness, modesty, devotion, and positive spirit. I especially recall an extended team lunch, after a Batavia soccer tournament on a hot summer weekend, when we were all captivated by stories of flying in less hospitable weather...Jim, from whichever sidelines you are looking...many thanks for having been kind, supportive and generous. My deepest and heart-felt condolences to the Halligans for your loss.

Jim was great to work with but more importantly he was a good friend and a great guy. Whether in the office, out with customers or relaxing on the golf course, Jim was a pleasure to be around. He was an inspiration to us as he battled his cancer and always maintained a more caring attitude about us than about himself. He will be sorely missed. My sincerest sympathy to all of the family and friends, We lost a really great guy.

When we moved to Rochester from Baltimore, and our son Kieran joined the Pittsford Sutherland soccer team, Kieran and Jim's son Dan were on the JV soccer team. The first parent I meet was Jim - he instantly pulled me in and made me feel comfortable with his open enthusiasm. Jim was an inspiration to all of us, and both before and after he became ill, was a man with his priorities straight who a made us all sit up and take notice. Our thoughts are with you Halligans one and all.
