Maude Welch Obituary

WELCH, Maude A. (Hunt) Age 91 of Manchester Ct, and recently South Windsor Ct, passed away peacefully on Friday October 31 2008, surrounded by her family. She was born in Weymouth MA, a daughter of the late George W & Alice L ( Quinn) Hunt. She was the wife of the late Edward F Welch, they were married for over 37 years. She was an Artist and an entrepreneur, dancing professionally in the Boston area before founding the Maude hunt School of Dance, in Weymouth. A member of the elite Dance Masters of America, she was an accomplished choreographer and teacher, guiding hundreds of aspiring dancers in the disciplines of ballet, jazz, tap ,ballroom and modern dance, first in Massachusetts, and later in Aruba where she lived from 1949 - 1965. Upon her return to Massachusetts , she retired from dancing and shifted her focus to gardening, and volunteer work at both St. Anne's Hospital, and Union Hospital in Fall River.Where she served on the Women's board, and was recognized numerous times for her contributions and dedication. She moved to Manchester CT, in 1985 to be closer to her grandchildren.She is survived by a son James P. Welch and his wife Sylvia of Valatie NY, 2 daughters Kathleen A Welch of Deep River CT, Dorothy Welch Budnick and her husband Donald of South Windsor CT., her 3 grandchildren who were the pride and joy of her life, they are Aaron W. Budnick, Justin E Budnick of South Windsor Ct, Crista N. Welch of Portland Oregon. She was the sister of the late George W Hunt. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 10:00am in the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Somerset MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Saturday from 9:00am - 10:00 am, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. The family extends sincere thanks to the many friends, neighbors, and caregivers who made her life richer by their kindness. Kathleen, Jim, Dotttie, Arron, Justin, and Christa, I am so very sorry. Aunt Maude was a classy and wonderful lady who I just truley loved. I will miss her so....I feel that I was blessed to have such a person in my life. Now, we have to stay in touch.That is important. I love you guys. She and my dad are probably sitting in heaven having a good argument right now, happy to be together again.

Dorothy,
It was my pleasure to have the few
weeks with your mother (Maude) as she was such an inspiration to myself. She was a wonderful resident of Emeritus-Summerville and
will be greatly missed. I will keep her close at heart always.
