As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

My sincere sympathy to Edythe’s family. Her husband Claude was a former Alderman and Clerk of Committees. When I first came to City Hall they stopped by to introduce themselves and I soon found myself looking forward to their visits. As walking became more difficult for Claude, Edie would often drop him off in my office while she tore around City Hall paying her bills and run errands about town. After Claude passed on she continued her visits to discuss her move from Stratford Street to Ledgewood Ave, her trips to Vermont to visit her daughter, anticipating her Canadian cousins visits when they delivered Christmas trees to the northeast, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also wanted to talk about the Aldermen’s behavior, the trash fee vs. the Pay-to-Throw program, and the general state of affairs in the City. She never held back and was always eager to share her opinion with whomever happened by my office. She was warmly regarded by many in City Hall and most women who met her were impressed with her stylish shoe collection and her ability to sport high heels well into her 80s. She became a dear friend, and like Claude, I will miss her greatly.
