Ruth English Obituary

ENGLISH, Ruth A. (Vickey) In North Andover, November 4, 2008, formerly of Quincy. Daughter of the late James Vickey and Margaret (Joyce) Vickey. Sister of the late Joseph Vickey, James Vickey, Richard "Red" Vickey, Robert Vickey, and Marilyn Vickey. Wife of the late John A. English. Mother of Diane Felci of Methuen and Linda Melchin of Cambridge. Also survived by four grandaughters: Lisa M. and Marissa L. Felci of Belmont and Stacey and Angela Melchin of Cambridge. Also survived by her oldest and dearest friend, Gloria Whalen of Dorchester and many nieces and 1 nephews. Ruth worked at Cameron and Colby Insurance Company in Boston until her retirement in 2000. She was a dedicated lector and communicant at Arch Street Shrine in Boston for many years, even after her retirement. She was most proud of her role as a Pastoral visitor to the ill at MGH for many years. The family would like to thank the many devoted staff at Greystone Farm Assisted Living in Salem, NH, Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover and Merrimack Valley Hospice who cared for her with love during these most difficult days. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Life Celebration Service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, Monday at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Ann Church, Quincy at 10 AM Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ruth's memory to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA 01843, which we eagerly await opening in March 2009.
