Margaret Whitney Obituary

WHITNEY, Margaret (Boney) Of Westwood, formerly of Boston, on October 27, 2008, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Thomas H. P. Whitney, she was formerly married to the late Frank E. Remick and the late Victor F. Horst. She is survived by her daughters Valerie Horst and her partner Benjamin Peck, of New York City, Pamela Horst of Bangkok, Thailand, and Leslie Horst and her spouse Louise Forrest of Watertown. She was the devoted grandmother of Peter Horst of McLean, Virginia and Claudia Citkovitz of New York City and great grandmother of Madeline Horst and Samuel Horst of McLean, Virginia. She was also the stepmother of Bruce W. Remick of Springfield, Virginia, the late Lee Remick Gowans, Colette D. Whitney of New York City, Mark H. Whitney of Tamarac, FL, Jonathan B. Whitney of Tuxedo Park, NY, and Thomas H. P. Whitney, Jr., of Brookline. For a number of years, she assisted Frank Remick in managing his store, Remick's of Quincy. She was also active as a volunteer for the Boston Symphony, serving as an Overseer and co-editing their well regarded fundraising cookbook. All who knew and loved her will miss her courage, her elegant, loving graciousness, and her wicked sense of humor. The Funeral Service will be on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 3 PM at the Church of the Redeemer, 379 Hammond St., Chestnut Hill, MA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Boston Symphony Orchestra, 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA 02115 or Barnard College, The Barnard Fund , 3009 Broadway, New York, NY 10027.
