I had the privilege of getting to know Dan when I worked with him at the Bd. of Higher Education. Dan and I started working there within a few days of each other. For much of the time we shared an office. If I had to share an office with someone I was lucky it was with Dan.
Through Dan I discovered WXKS "The music of our life" radio station that played music from 30's 40's 50's. I still keep that music in my listening environment today.
Dan loved to talk (though loudly at times)politics and tell anyone who disagreed with him how wrong we were. Walking through Boston with Dan made you think you were walking with the Mayor-- Who didn't he know????? and he was usually better dressed than the mayor.
Unfortunately due to family illness I hadn't been in touch with Dan for a while, but I often thought of him--as I do now, at this very sad time.
To Dan's family, his friends and especially to Gladys I extend my deepest sympathy.

Mr. Beaton,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Dan was a friend to all. His sense of humor and spirit will live on in those whose lives he touched.
