Elizabeth Gibson Ferry

FERRY, Elizabeth Gibson Age 87, of Matunuck, Rhode Island, died on November 10 at her home after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of John Mansfield Ferry, of Matunuck, for sixty-six years, mother of Elizabeth Mansfield Bishop of Boulder, Colorado, Dana Ferry of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and John DeWolf Ferry of Matunuck; grandmother of Tara Bishop Manke of Watertown, Mass. and Nina Bishop Nunn of Brookine, Mass. Mrs. Ferry's father, Charles DeWolf Gibson, was the Executive Vice-President of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City in the 1960s and '70s. Elizabeth was the great-niece of Charles Dana Gibson, the illustrator-creator of the 'Gibson Girl.' Elizabeth was also a professional painter in her own right. Memorial services are to be held at the Kingston Congregational Church in Kingston, Rhode Island on December 6 at 11:15am. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the South County Art Association of Kingston or to the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston. Arrangements made by the Forbes Funeral Home.
