Henry Gagnon Obituary

GAGNON, Rev. Henry W. 79, died Wednesday in Lahey Clinic after a brief illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Walter and Annette (Dionne) Gagnon. Father Gagnon attended St Jean's schools, Lynn, graduated from Assumption High School, Worcester in 1947 and from Mass College of Pharmacy, Class of 1952. He attended St John's Seminary and was ordained a priest on February 6, 1964. He was a parochial vicar at St. Joseph's, Salem, St. Theresa's, Dracut, and St. Joseph's, Waltham. Father Gagnon was chaplain at Bentley College, Waltham and concurrently was in residence and served at Sacred Heart Parish, Watertown. He was then at St. Richard's in Danvers and at the same time was the spiritual advisor to the Xaverian Brothers. He has been at St. Michael's Church for the last 17 years. Surviving him are two sisters and their husbands Elaine and Robert Santos of Brookside, NJ, and Anne Marie and Hugh Moran of Nashua, NH, nine nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to visiting hours in the St. Laurent Funeral Home, 554 Western Ave. LYNN on Monday from 4-7 PM. Fr. Gagnon's body will be blessed and greeted into St. Michael's Church Bedford on Tuesday at 3:30 PM and will lie in state in the Church from 4-8 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, Bedford, MA on Wednesday at 11 AM. Burial will be in St Jean's Cemetery, Lynn. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Francis House, 39 Boylston St., Boston, MA 02116 or to the Father Henry Gagnon Memorial Fund, c/o St Michael's Church, 96 Concord Road, Bedford, MA.
