To the Dear Murphy Family:
When I was told that Mrs. Murphy passed away, my heart sank...and then my memory soared with the wonderful visions of her at the font of the Hobbs Jr. High auditorium as my dearly loved music teacher. Mrs. Murphy was a gem - beautiful, patient, kind, talented. During a time in my life when everything seemed topsy turvey, she added a sparkle and an opportunity to feel like a success.
Being in her musicals was wonderful. "In the mountain greenery where we paint the scenery...we're such happy people together!!!"
My sisters and I talked memories of your mother and the wonderful way she touched our lives. And from the other notations, we are not alone in our thinking. Just calculate the numbers of students she touched over the years!!! Incredible!
Now she's conducting a chorus of beginning angels, sharing with them the joy of music and song!! What a treat! What a vision!!
I am so sorry for your loss, but so grateful that you shared her with us. She will live forever as a grace in our lives.
Peace in prayer,
Malvena Cangiano Baxter

Maura and Dr. Murphy...
I have fond memories of your mother's wonderful music classes at Hobbs Junior High...She taught us all the old songs and the patriotic ones, too, which I then sang to Cheryl when she was a little girl..She use to joke that "Your A Grand Old Flag" was her lullaby as a baby...
I can still see your mother sitting at the piano in the Hobbs auditorum creating beautiful music and teaching us not only to sing the songs, but to love them and have fun with them, too...
She was a beautiful, kind and loving person...a grand lady in every respect..Her gift of music truly touched my soul and I am grateful to her for that, not just for myself, but also for Cheryl...Those old songs that I learned in Mrs. Murphy's class got Cheryl and I through some tough times because music is so wonderfully healing..
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...

"Heart of my heart..." From my earliest days I sang and learned at your side. And, "I know a tear would glisten, if once more I could listen, (to that Mom) that sang heart of my heart."
