Cmdr. Leasure,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the USN-especially during WW II. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To Judy and Patti,
It was a pleasure and honor to drive The Commander to our Wednesday night meetings. We had great discussions going to and from the meetings. He was a great friend and great adviser. I will miss him and his advice to me. It was an honor to have known him and to have had him as a friend.

To Julia,Patti,and family

I had the good fortune of meeting the Commander about 17 years ago, when I joined the Wednesday night group. His actions and words helped to teach many of us how to act like gentlemen and walk like men. If John the fisherman had business on a wednesday night, I served as one of the back up drivers. One night we returned home as the redsox went into extra innings. Instead of heading home, we sat in the car and listened as the sox pulled off another win. As I drove home, I realized how lucky I was to spend that kind of time with him. He will be remembered often. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Julia, his daughter, Patricia, and all his other relatives and friends:

As one of a group of men who had the good fortune of associating with Shelby each Wednesday evening at the Glastonbury Abbey for several years, I know I can speak in their behalf in expressing our sincere sympathy over losing a wonderful comrade and friend.

"Shel" was always proud of his service to our Country, and well he should have been. He truly was, at all times, "An Oficer and a Gentleman," and because he is one of those rare types of individuals whom you seldom meet in life, he was always held in very high esteem and deep respect and he will be sadly missed.

So we join you in prayer for his soul as we pray for you also for the strength to face this difficult ordeal which now confronts you. For all the members of the Glastonbury Abbey group, rest assured that "Shel" will always be a part of our group, if only in spirit, and also in our many fond memories.
