Louis Shore Obituary

SHORE, Louis Age 91, a resident of King's Point, Del Ray Beach, Florida, died Nov. 27 from a very recent battle with Leukemia. Lou was a 65 year member of the CWA, International and Boston Typographer's Union #13 and worked for Boston Globe, Herald Traveler, Record American and Sun Sentinel for over 40 years. Born at home in Boston's West End of Beacon Hill, the son of Russian immigrants Frank and Bessie (Rich) Shore and grandson of Wolf and Libe Shore of Slavita, Russia, Lou was Staff Sgt in the US Army's 3rd Engineer Special Brigade and served in Luzon, The Phillipines and New Guinea during the WWII years of 1943-45. The Shore family was involved in printing in Boston since the turn of the century along with brothers Phil, Harry and George, and sister Ida Mostow. Lou was a proud member of L Street, South Boston and an avid follower of all Boston sports. As a youth he often sneaked into the Bruins games in the old Boston Garden by climbing the fire escapes. A follower of horse racing and a student of the Racing Forum, Lou loved to travel to Old Orchard Beach every summer with his children Vicki and Warren for a visit to Scarborough Downs. Lou left a legacy of immense physical strength, endurance and health, actively swimming and walking up to the last month and often boasted that he was never in a hospital, even birthed at home. Lou leaves Daughter Vicki Shore and husband Paul Mador of Needham, MA and Son Warren Shore of Nahant, MA, Grandchildren Robyn (and David) Bowen, Dean Gregg and Amy Brackman, Lauren and Derek Shore. Great grandchildren Jordan, Molly, Harrison and Ethan Bowen, nieces Helaine (and Ansel) Baker. Barbara (and Joel) Benjamin, nephew Frank Mostow and will be missed by Jeremy, Jessica, Jennifer, Sophia and Miles Mador. Beloved friend and companion of Rachel Berkowits. Donations can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 800-955-4572, www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.

Mr. Shore,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific fighting the Japanese during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
