Captain Eddie Sweeney and his lovely wife Ellen were my best friends during my time at Ft. Bragg in 1971. I ate many a meal at their house while watching the Bruins and playing with Sean. Ellen or Sean, if you ever read this, please contact me. Steve Rowe CW2.

Col. Sweeney,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your years of dedicated service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army-especially in Vietnam. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Mrs. Sweeney,
I'm so sorry for your loss, I've only known you both thru the Shumperts and the GSU Golf Tournament, but your husband and you always looked to have so much fun together. Thanks for always having your great smile and representing the great relationship that it sounds like you had.

Ellen, Sean, Shannon, Julie and family,
I can hardly bear the thought of all of you going through the loss of Ed.
Alan and I have such absolutely wonderful memories of all of the good times we had together in such a short period of time. I can still picture him in his white turtleneck and green bowtie greeting us at the door for your St. Pat's party at Ft. Bragg. Never a St Patrick's day went by since, without Alan and I talking about that. Almost as often as that, Alan would tell the boys that if he had his pick of brothers, Ed would have been his first choice. If there is anything that either of us can do for any of you to help ease the pain that you're going through, just say the word! We love you! Josette

Dearest Ellen, Sean and Shannon,
Josette and I were so very sorry to learn of your loss. Though we were together only a short time at Bragg, we instantly felt a close and heartfelt friendship that lasted thru the years and across the many miles that separated us. I know that Ed was long in heaven long before the Devil knew where he was. Our heartfelt sympathy for you all. Ed will always be in our hearts.

To the Sweeney Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you. Mr. Sweeny was not only my boss but my friend. We shared alot of tears and laughter. He was such a very special person. He touched the lives of everyone that knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone. I can say one of the best was called home on that day.
I don't know that I have ever met anyone that loved their family as much as Mr. Sweeney. I loved to talk to him about all of you, his face would always light up, you could hear the love in his voice. His family was his life. I could go on and on but I know you know how special he was, and thank God for the memories that he left behind.
Love to you all,
Sarah Stafford
