Mr. Shepherd,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

One of the fondest memories I have of Grampa Shepherd is from when I was very little at a family Christmas get-together. I sat by his side and he produced a quarter to me from behind my ear. It was like magic, I thought he was amazing. Then he would tell me a joke that i didn't understand, but I would laugh at it anyway.
I will miss you Grampa.

When Charlie and I were roommates at UMass, I remember going to Melrose and having some wonderful conversations with his dad. I will always remember him as a thoughtful and kind person. However he also had a 'twinkle' in his eye... indicating mischief was about to happen! He was a real wise guy. Am glad to have known him and so happy that Charlie and his family are a big part of my life.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. My mom, Bea Murphy, was so fond of her brother Warren and in fact we talked a lot about Warren when I visited her on Saturday. I know that in the past she always looked forward to his call to wish her a happy birthday.
