To the Ryberg Family,
You will never forget or every really get over the loss of someone so powerful as the head of a house hold. Charlie was a wonderful gentleman. I will never forget how he always made sure the boat was made ready for fishing.

Charlie!
You took me into your family at a difficult time. You made me feel welcome right away. I have so many great memories of you like the 4th of July weekends at your house in Plymouth and at your USS Lexington reunion in Boston. I was always proud to be introduced over the years as Charlie Ryberg's son in law! We shared the same passion with the Boston/New England Patriots and I cherish the Super Bowl programs, hats, jerseys and news papers you always got for me from all of the people you knew around the country. You do not have to worry about Jan as she will be taken care of by the many people who loved you both. I learned all about politics from you and someday I might even consider becoming a Republican! You are the Greatest Patriot I ever knew and I will miss you very much!
I will see you in my dreams.

Dear Jan, Mark, Glenn, Donna & Patty,
We were all so stunned and saddened to hear about the loss of Charlie. What can you say about a guy like this? He was a war hero, a most respected Deputy Fire Chief in our community, and active within so many very respected charitable organizations within the City of Waltham. He was a baseball coach for most of his life, positively influencing God knows how many young men, and he was a second father to many young boys like me, Jim. He was also like a second grand father to my children when he drove them to school as their school bus driver. Whatever he did, he did it with pride, humility, humor, and enthusiasm. Whether he was directing firefighters at the scene of a dangerous fire, or directing first and second graders where to line up to get on the bus, he always had a zest for life and a professionalism that many people are missing these days. He exemplified what Tom Brokaw described in his book as "The Greatest Generation". My entire family LOVED him, and he will be GREATLY missed. The Good Lord is getting one of the very best, and he will join our Dad. Together they will wreak a lot of havoc with their crazy stories and escapades. Our Dad has missed his friend. He will be glad to see him. I promise he will never be forgotten in our home, or in our thoughts or prayers, nor will his family.
With Love, The Auld Family

Charlie was a great guy the few times we had met. My dad always thought he was a good friend and shipmate. I know that they will be talking about old times on the ship.

Mrs. Ryberg and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Ryberg's passing. We never met but my father, Bob Clasby Sr. always spoke so fondly of the times that they spent together aboard the Lexington and the subsequent reunions. It's ironic that both of their passings are within a year of each other. God bless you and your family.
