Dear Friends and Family,
My sister Bernadette and I are deeply grateful for your cards, flowers, and comments on this message board. We have been blessed immensely by your thoughts and prayers. The funeral was beautiful as many people had wonderful things to say. The praying Indians offered very moving musical selections my father would have loved. We will continue to post pictures for those who use this site. Feel free to contact us as this site will be up permanently. God bless all of you and Jaime, Melody and family, Priscilla, Dawne thankyou for everything. We love you.

From Pastor Carter, I learned a great deal about life, human relations, and the power of the holy spirit. I enjoyed working with him as All Saint's Lay Associate. I will always remember the "School of Universal Blackness", The church Fairs, and dinners at All Saints; and most of all, his pre-marital counseling to myself and my fiance, Lynn Benander, as well as his participation in our wedding.
It was a pleasure meeting the family members on their occaisional visits to "All Saints",as well as Bernadette and her boys upon their return to Boston. Vernon (Pastor Carter)and his genuine and sincere committment to bettering the quality of life for Black people, will forever live in my heart and be a beacon of hope.
To the family---Be strong in your faith. God is with you all.

My uncle taught us to Be and appreciate all in Life that is good. To try and make the flaws correct so that there were less conflicts and barriers for those that followed would have less to bear. Our family will miss and always love him and his memory.

Cape Verdean Americans knew Rev Vernon Carter as a man of God, an Africanist and a bridge-builder within communities of color. He will be remembered as a steadfast partner in the stuggle for National Independence in Cape Verde and civil rights in New England Cape Verdean communities.
God bless his family and may the life of Rev Carter live long in your memory.
