Patrica Bowles Obituary

Longtime Boston area resident, Patricia C. Bowles (Jango), died on August 14, 2007. Patricia will be remembered as a woman who inspired peace, laughter and love to all who had the good fortune to cross her path each day during her daily long walks from Cleveland Circle to Coolidge Corner and the Beacon Street areas. When Patricia was asked what was her profession she would respond, without hesitation, "Peace Activist." Patricia's passion for World Peace was obvious to all who knew her and her politics. Patricia was proud to have her name added to the Wall of Tolerance at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery Alabama. As an artist, Patricia was a spiritual being who drew her inspiration from all that the Goddess and Mother Earth had to offer to her daily and she always shared that inspiration with those who crossed her path. Patricia was predeceased by her husband Wilbur F. Bowles who died July 13th, 1995. She is survived by her daughter Priscilla Valdes and her husband Juan of Nashua, New Hampshire; her son John R. Bowles of Lynn, Massachusetts and her daughter Diane Deluca and her husband Joseph of Newtonville, Massachusetts. She is also survived by 4 grandsons; John R. Valdes and his wife Tracey of Amesbury, Massachusetts; Robert J. Valdes and his wife Susie of Gaithersburg, Maryland; Joey Deluca of Newtonville, Massachusetts and Danny Deluca of Newtonville, Massachusetts. Patricia was predeceased by her twin sister Elizabeth M. Jango (Lothrop) and her brothers William Jango, Joseph Jango (Brother Valerian) and Warren Jango. Patricia is survived by her sisters Phyllis (Poppy) Kennedy, Gloria Mulcahy, Anna Berry and her brothers Robert Jango, Thomas Jango and James Jango. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and her very close friend and companion Felix Feuerstein. Patricia will be missed by her friends at the Busy Bee Restaurant on Beacon Street and the friends she would meet daily at Coolidge Corner, especially at Dunkin Donuts. At Patricia's request she was cremated with no memorial services. Donations in her memory may be made to the Pine Street Inn, Rosies Place, the Veterans Homeless Shelter or the MSPCA. "Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Others stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same." Author Unknown.

I remember Pat as the very kind neighbor who lived up the street from me in Brighton. It was always a treat to run into her at the MBTA stop at Cleveland Circle, for she always had great stories to tell. She always had a kind and comforting word to say to all, especially the poor and those going through emotional traumas. Those fellow customers and staff over at the Busy Bee restaurant in Brookline always looked forward to her coming in for lunch. Pat will always be lovingly remembered for her work defending women's health clinics and as a strong peace activist. Rest in peace, dearest Pat. Those of us grieving for you will rest easier knowing that you are watching over us all in heaven.
