Paul F. Lawler

Of Dedham, Reverend Protodeacon of the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral, died August 27, 2007, after 93 years of vigorous life and a short illness. Paul studied at the Boston Latin School (Class of 1931), Harvard, and the Harvard Business School. He was management consultant of commercial real estate properties for several entrepreneurial companies. After his business career, Paul was ordained in 1982 as the first deacon at the Cathedral. He later served as Chancellor of the Melkite Eparchy of Newton, responsible for official records, until he entered the hospital in July. Paul was a fine athlete, a consistent presence in civic affairs in the Town of Dedham, and an enthusiastic participant in alumni affairs of his schools. Paul was married for 65 years to Mary Alberta (Collins). They had 6 children: Frances Conley and her husband Gerald of WA, Ellen Ugi of Wareham and her late husband Joe, Elizabeth Dunn of NH and her late husband David, Mary Lawler Voorhees and her husband John of NM, Philip F. Lawler and his wife Leila of Lancaster, and John A.S. Lawler of Hingham. Paul was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Myles and Rita Conley; Dan, Tim, and Jeremy Dunn; Carl Wickstrom; and Nick, Rosie, Suzanne, Joseph, Deirdre, William, and Bridget Lawler. Archbishop Cyril S. Bustros, Eparch of Newton, will officiate the Concelebrated Funeral Service Thursday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Annunciation Melkite Catholic Cathedral, 7 V.F.W. Parkway, Roslindale.
