Elizabeth Swiedler Obituary

Of 3 Hawthorne Lane died Sunday, August 26, 2007 in the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, NH. She was born November 4, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Alexander V. and Helen (Galbraith) Clarke. She is survived by three sons: Edward A. Swiedler and his wife, Anne E. of Dunwoody, GA; John G. Swiedler and his partner, Ann M. McKone of York; Thomas C. Swiedler and his wife, Linda C. of Roswell, GA; two daughters: Elizabeth S. (Jennie) McCann and her husband, William M. of York; Margaret A. (Peggy) Wagner and her husband, John R. (Jack) of Roswell, GA; her extended family: Andrea Ellis of McDonough, GA; Laurie Hawkins of Snellville, GA; Gretchen Cannon of Atlanta, GA; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her son, Andrew C. Swiedler, and two brothers, Hugh Clarke and Gilbert Clarke predeceased her. Elizabeth was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church and Church Choir, the Seacoast Community Chorus and the Old York Garden Club. She was president of the Women's Fellowship of the First Parish Church and trustee and treasurer of the First Parish Cemetery Association. Elizabeth made deliveries for the Meals on Wheels program; she also served for twelve years in the York Schools grandparent volunteer program as "Gram" to many third graders. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Swiedler will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 15th in the First Parish Congregational Church, 180 York St., York, Maine. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, Sept. 14 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Rd., YORK, MAINE.
