To the Stepanis family,
I am saddened about the passing of Fred. I met Fred in February of 1959 on my first day at Polaroid and spent his remaining years at Polaroid working closely with him. I have many memories of his humorous and unique views on work, life, and politics. He was very entertaining. We shared many funny moments at Polaroid. When I think of Fred I think of the columnist George Frazier and how George would have declared that Fred had "duende", a special undefined quality. Fred talked me into saving stamps simply because they are fun to look at over time. He selected my first plate block of the 100th aniversity of the Battle of Shiloh in 1962. He was somebody I certainly will always remember.
With my deepest sympathy.
