My first memory was driving from Churchville, PA to Everett MA. My father would take Friday and Monday's off, and they would pack my two brothers and me into the Ford wagon, and start the 8 hour drive. We would do this 3 or 4 times a summer, and these trips continued when we moved from PA to outside Saugerties NY.

Around the age of 12, I would spend the summers at their home in Everett. We would learn how to fish for flounder by hand, (yes, I know it is a fairly dumb fish, but it is fun to do by hand at 12). We would surf cast for sunfish on Revere Beach, and walk the beach. He would come visit us in New York, fishing at camp Tri-mount, with my Mother, Larry, and myself.

He had retired by then, and as a former Machinist, he had an entire shop in the basement. I was scared to walk down the steep steps, till he said there wasn’t anything there to worry about. It then became a place to let imagination run free, and get yelled at for not putting things away.

He was born in Nova Scotia. Hard times then, he immigrated to the US, working at various jobs, and met my grandmother. They married and settled in Malden, and later moved to Everett. They had three children; Robert and Ronald, my uncles, and Joan, My Mother

Grammy passed away in the early 70's. She had her leg amputated; he did everything he needed to make her comfortable. He moved the beds around to help her when she needed to. The house had rails installed on almost every corner. After she passed, he was very competent at home and car care. In fact, the house shutters, car, garden stones, clothes pins, birdhouses, Garden chairs were all the same color, deep Robins egg blue.

He is the person I am named after, and he is some one I love deeply.

Pup, I can't give you a monument to your ability and equal to your strength. But I can try to post something that will stand a test of time somewhere. And I am proud to be your grandson

God, please welcome Arthur Sampson. He is a good man, wonderful grandfather, and humble. Help him find Grammy. He's been missing her for quite some time

I have fond memories of Great Uncle Arthur and always said he was so kind and so pleasant to talk to. He was proud of the children when he spoke about them. I had taken many pictures for him from Louisdale where he was born including the home he was born in. I only regret he did not have a chance to see them. My thoughts are with you all. My mother was Gertrude Sampson (Landry)she was his niece.
