Robert Steinsieck Obituary

89 of Nazareth formerly of Meriden, New Hampshire died on Saturday September 15, 2007 at the VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's in Bethlehem, PA. Husband of Marie (Betzig) Steinsieck. They were married 64 years on August 28th. Born in Newton, MA on July 6, 1918. Son of the late William Townsend and Carol (Anderson) Steinsieck. He graduated from Newton High School in Newton, MA in 1936; graduated from Bordentown Military Institute in Bordentown, NJ in 1937. Graduated from Brown University in Providence, RI in 1941 and graduated from the Medical School at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City in 1944. He completed his internship and residency at Newton Hospital in Newton, MA. He served in the US Army during World War II in the Medical Corps from April 1946 to April 1948. Served in the reserves as a reserve commissioned officer and was discharged as a Major in 1961. He was a general surgeon in private practice and a staff surgeon at Newton-Wellesley Hospital from 1953 to 1970 and later a staff surgeon at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH from 1970 until his retirement on July 1, 1985. He became a member of the American Board of Surgery on May 15, 1956 and a member of the American College of Surgeons on October 2, 1959. Survivors: Wife Marie; Son Gregory Steinsieck of Newton, MA; Daughters Carol Ann Brown-Altuna and husband Paul of New York City and Lynne Marie Steinsieck and husband Lorne Barkley of San Rafael, CA and Beebe, Quebec, Canada; Six Grandchildren Benjamin Charles Steinsieck, Bethany Steinsieck McGreevy, Elkhanah Pulitzer Owen, Sarah Brown Blake, Bianca Pulitzer Woodard and Jennifer Brown; One Step-Grandson Marco Steinsieck; One Great-Great Grandson Finn Robert McGreevy. Predeceased by a son Robert Townsend Steinsieck, Jr. who was killed in action during Viet Nam on December 3, 1967. A brother Charles Anderson Steinsieck preceeded him in death in 1939. Services: Memorial Service on Monday October 8, 2007 at 11 AM in the Congregational Church on Main Street in Meriden, NH. Funeral arrangements by the John F.
