To the Gear Family,
I just recently found out ,to my great sadness ,what happened to Pat, from a mutual friend from tractor trailer school. I had been trying to reach Pat for months, not knowing what happened. Pat became a good friend and inspiration to me at NETTTS, always ready to help and always ready with a good joke to make the whole class laugh.
After graduation, Pat always called me to see how I was doing...I will miss those calls. He was, and always will be, a special man. Thank you, Pat, for being a great inspiraton in my life...I will never forget you.

I was a friend of Pat's from Old Saybrook, CT. When Pat owned the Town Beach Store, I would come in each day and get my coffee and newspaper from him and we became friends. Pat was a familiar face around town for years....he was a good man and I will always remember his Irish ways...we had so many laughs and good times.
I hadn't seen him much in recent years when he moved away...but always thought of him.
May God hold a place for him forever.
God Bless all of you.

Dear Linda, my very deepest condolences to you, your brother Steven and all of PJ's family. I have such fond memories of PJ while we were growing up. He was an awesome big brother. I will always remember the great times at your parents house in NH. PJ would let us hang out and listen to music. He was so kind and always the most fun person to be around. I know how much you adored your big brother. And he loved you just as much.
My thoughts are with you.
Love, Julie

It is hard to believe that this tragedy occured following the celebration of life at Steven Patrick Gear's Christening...I only met Pat last week, his smile and warmth exuded a real zest for life. His welcoming smile and kindness made me feel right at home. The last time I saw Pat we were outside in the sunlight. The warmth of the sun upon our shoulders...I thought the real warmth lies within this man's heart. I will fondly remember Pat with his beautiful smile in the sunlight...
