In the American Heritage Dictionary under the word "gracious" it reads: kindness, warm courtesy, merciful, compassionate, good taste. While no single word can sum up the life of a person, this word must come to mind for me when I think of Phyllis. She was remarkable to her family and to each of us that she touched on her journey. Phyllis has done what was asked of her by her Creator: have you made Christ present to others as you when about each day? Truly the answer must be a profound "yes".
May this example that Phyllis has set for each of us be now our goal as we continue our journey. Thank you, Phyllis, for being a part of my life.

Uncle Bill,

I am writing to extend my deepest sympathies to you and my cousins. I was so very sad to hear about Aunt Phyllis, she was such a wonderful person.

I had the honor and the pleasure to know Aunt Phyllis and I was very sorry to hear about her passing away. I had the greatest respect for Aunt Phyllis and will always cherish the memories of our visits to your home during my childhood. Her generous nature and the love she showed my family over the years will never be forgotten.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I have to agree with Kevin's sentiment. Every summer growing up the question was "When is Aunt Phyllis' cookout?" For her to open her house (and her pool!) to the the swarm of Kavanaughs year after year was quite a feat! In this life the greatest thing we can leave behind are happy memories and I think we can all say that those warm summertime gatherings make us smile. Rest in peace, Aunt Phyllis. You are missed.

As early as I can remember as a child, I remember the excitement of the Thorne's cookout with all the Kavanaugh's. Phyllis will always be a key figure in the happiness of my childhood memories for all the times she opened her home up to our family and all the family events she participated in. She adored our Nana and visited her every week for years, for that I am truly appreciative.

To sum it up, to have known Phyllis was to know a person of great love and kindness. She will be missed.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I am so sorry to learn of Aunt Phyllis's passing. She was very special to my Dad, Ken. Phyllis was my Godmother. Thank you Aunt Phyllis for the little crystal animal figures when I was a little kid. Love to the family. You are in my prayers.
