Carolyn Glenn Obituary

Died on October 6, 2007 surrounded by her family members at her home in Kittery, Maine. She was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1923 and raised in Glen Rock, New Jersey. Carolyn was the daughter of Zillah Lindley Taylor and Amos Wood Taylor. She graduated from Hobart William Smith College in Geneva, New York and received her degree in nursing from the Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Her Masters Degree in Nursing was awarded by the Yale University School of Nursing in New Haven Connecticut. Carolyn became a specialist in providing home care for patients following her service as a visiting nurse in Trenton, New Jersey. She was instrumental in fostering the development of the first Hospice in the United States in New Haven, Connecticut. Carolyn is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Roland Glenn of Kittery, Maine, her son, Woody Glenn and his family of Somerville, Massachusetts, Pepper Greene, Alan Hamilton and Peter Chevany, her daughter and son in-law, Robyn and Robert Boccardi of Fairfield, Connecticut and her daughter and son in-law, Heather and Joel Glenn Wixson of Kittery, Maine. She has been loved by her two grandchildren, Jemma and Cayden Glenn Wixson. A memorial celebration of Carolyns life for family and friends will take place at her Kittery home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2007. Her family requests that Memorial Remembrances be sent to Beacon Hospice, 42 Brickyard Court, York, Maine 03909.
