John McGrail Obituary

83, formerly of Stoughton, MA, passed away on October 12, 2007 in Falmouth. He was born in Boston, MA, a son of James and Catherine McGrail. He served in the Army Air Force as a Master Sergeant during WWII and was stationed in India. He attended Boston University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and earned MBA and MST graduate degrees. He received his law degree from Suffolk University. He practiced for many years as a Certified Public Accountant and served as Treasurer of Groton Leatherboard in Groton, MA. He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Lorraine T. (Reardon) McGrail in 1961. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Hope A. (Grady) McGrail; His children: John T. McGrail of Arlington, VA; Neal J. McGrail of Macon, GA; Catherine A. McGrail of Petaluma, CA; Peter J. McGrail of Yarmouth; and a sister, Claire Gregor of Boston, MA. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visiting hours will be held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on Sunday at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, YARMOUTH, ME. A Mass will be celebrated at 8:15 AM on Monday Sacred Heart Church, 326 Main St. Yarmouth. Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Monday at New Calvary Cemetery, 800 Harvard St., Mattapan, MA.

Mr. McGrail,
Sir, i didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. A lot of people don't realize that during WW II, the USAAF helped keep China supplied by flying everything from ammunition to food aboard cargo planes from India over the Himilaya Mountain Range from 1942 to 1945. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
