My sincere sympathy to Gay and family. I knew Jay for many years in my role as an officer in the Assabet Valley Federation of Teachers, and as a board member of the Mass. Federation of teachers, and considered him a friend. He will be missed.

Dear Mrs. Porter & Family,

Please accept mine and my family's sincere condolences on your husband's passing. He was my 6th grade teacher at Farnsworth School in 1970, and was a wonderful educator and mentor. He taught with Jeannette Dube, and I will always have fond memories of time spent in their classes.

My sincerest sympathy to Gay and all the family at this most sad time.

Jay became a close friend and colleague nearly 30 years ago. We watched our families grow and mature over the years. He was extremely proud of Gay and their sons, their wives and certainly needless to say all the grandchildren.

Jay's passing will leave an emptiness in my life both personally and professionally. We talked and e mailed each other daily. I'll remember my visits with him in the hospital. He was always willing to learn about what was happening at work and of course all about my own children. My one regret is that I couldn't give him a hug for fear of me passing something to him upon contact. But, I did tell him even though I wasn't giving him that hug, that I did love him.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful man with my family. I'll never forget him.

Jay was a friend and colleague of mine for over 25 years. He taught me how to be a good union president. Words cannot express the sense of loss I feel for myself but more so, for his loving family. We shall miss him greatly.
