Edward Costa Obituary

Of Randolph, formerly of Somerville, unexpectedly, at the age of 83, on October 18, 2007. Beloved husband of Olga "Marie" (D'Arrigo) Costa. Loving father of Edward L. Costa, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Bridgewater, Susan M. Costa of Hull, and David J. Costa of Randolph. Son of the late Frank and Mary Costa. Devoted brother of John Costa of NH, formerly of Tewksbury, and the late Gloria Massi. Dear grandfather of Meredith A., Edward M. and Joseph J. Costa, all of Bridgewater. Also survived by his adoring nieces, nephews, and many friends. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main St., (Rte. 28), RANDOLPH until 9:15 AM Monday followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary Church, Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, 4-8 PM. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Simon of Cyrene Society, PO Box 54, So. Boston MA. Mr. Costa retired about 20 years ago as a salesman. He was a W.W. II US Navy Veteran, who served on the USS Okalahoma City, during the war. He is a plank owner of the USS Okalahoma City and a member of the US Navy Cruiser and Sailor Association. He was born in Somerville and has lived in Randolph for the past 43 years. Mr. Costa,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WW II aboard the light cruiser USS Oklahoma City(CL-91). The Oklahoma City saw action in 1945 at Okinawa and served with the 3rd Fleet during air operations and naval bombardment missions off Japan as well. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
