Dad,
I never imagined that Jen would leave us so soon to join you in Heaven. My heart is just shattered and I miss her and you so very much. My only consolation is thinking of the two of you together again. I know you are both watching over us and I know how proud you must be of Tim, Amy and Ashley for how bravely they are dealing with all of this. It hasn´t been easy but they are such amazing kids (who had an even more amazing mom). We are looking out for them and we always will. Tim is doing great at UNH and we are so excited to visit him there this weekend. I will, of course, be thinking of you and Jen while we are there and wishing you could be there too. Please send us some signs so that we know you are with us. Missing you every day...
Xoxo

Missing you a lot today, Dad. Wish you could be here to see Tim play football and Riley and Eva starting high school. All of your grandkids are amazing and I know you are watching over them. I just wish you were here so they could know what a great Grandpa you were. Keep an eye on them for us---don't let them get into too much trouble. Love you and miss you always. xoxo

I'll be thinking of you this weekend as I watch your three beautiful granddaughters dance in their dance recital. I will forever treasure the memory of sitting beside you at Kendra's recital in June 2007, and you leaning over to me to say "Just think, before you know it, that will be Amy, Eva and Riley up there." Riley hadn't even been born yet but we knew someday we'd see her on that stage. She and Scott will dance together in the Father/Daughter dance this year, and I will be laughing through tears and thinking of you. I love you and miss you very much! xoxo

Four years have come and gone in the blink of an eye, Dad, but it seems like you've been gone for so much longer. Our hearts are still broken that you are gone, but we think of you every day and love you very much. I know you're watching out for us. I love you and miss you, Dad.

I can't believe a year has passed without you, Dad. Sometimes it feels like so much longer, yet that terrible day is still so vivid in our minds that sometimes it feels like just yesterday. We miss you terribly, but we are grateful for all of the wonderful memories we have that help us get through the tough times. We love very much and you will always be in our hearts.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To Pat and Family. I am deeply saddned to hear of Fred's passing. My thoughts are with you. I regret that I will be unable to attend the funeral due to obligations here. One of my fondest memories of Freddy was his sharing of his record collection when I was very young. (The Beatles were new then, and it was the most exciting thing I'd ever heard...I've never been able to listen to that early Beatles stuff without thinking of him)...that and his
white '63 Chevy impala convertible with the red interior. I still remember the first time that he gave me a ride in it.
