Dear Uncle,
i feel so sad when I think that I will never see you. Your sister Emily (my mother) told me about her beloved little brother which was a hero. She said: "He loved freedom and justice so much that under Soviet fire he cleared entanglements divided East and West.
It was your protest against communist bondage. In the letter to your sister you wrote about your brave escape in Berli. Communist authority sentenced you to the death penalty in absentia. After many years when Poland regained independence that sentence was revoke. I wanted to pass on you that message but I'm late...
I wanted to shake your hand, hand of the hero which loved freedom above all else but I'm late...
I believe that our Father let you be pleased with perpetual light in heaven. I'm sure of that.
I'm praying for your soul in Polish:
Wieczne odpoczywanie racz mu dac, Panie
A swiatlosc wiekuista niechaj mu swieci
Niech odpoczywa w pokoju wiecznym, Amen.

Ziggy - Some of my fondest memories are from my days growing up on Vine St. and seeing you in your yard yelling over to my sisters and I. You always took the time to see how the 3 of us were doing and to share a laugh with us. Vine St. won't be the same with you gone. My deepest sympathy to your family. Thank you for being a great neighbor and a part of my life for many years. Rest in peace.
