To the family of Gert Birt:
We have wonderful memories of Gert. As a young girl, I remember Gert being at our house on those popular poker nights with our mother and their girlfriends. Gert loved our mother's (Irene Burns Butler) homemade hot fudge sauce and our father's (Lenny Butler) gentle manner and corny sense of humor. We shared much fun at the many social and political events around town. Gert was great for election chats, holding signs, and working the polls. Our aunts always had wonderful words for her.
Through her volunteer and community spirit, Gert made Dedham a better town.
Gert will always be in our hearts.

Steve,
Deby and I send our condolences on the death of your beloved mother.
Looking at her picture I can clearly see your face in hers.
As we have spoken before about the agony of loved ones dying, I believe that we are blessed in ways that we cannot experience otherwise by having the opportunity to share in their passing and to say and hear all that gives us lasting peace.
What I miss most about my father's dying is his voice, because I think that the ability to be heard is our most distinctive and lasting trait.
We share in your grief and the celebration of your mothers life on earth.
