Still think of Janna often... clearly, she left/made quite an impression... loved her enthusiasm for teaching... I know she still lives on in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her, and the many lives she touched through teaching... a beautiful soul...

I still think of Janna all the time. We both began teaching in Franklin in the fall of '99. I remember coming into her classroom to teach my music lesson (music was on a cart) and I would watch her end her lessons and I remember always thinking to myself, "now THAT'S a teacher!" She just had such command of the lesson, and the attention of her students. She was something to behold. I still think of her often and I still miss her. She was a natural at teaching. She also always had a smile and was so friendly. My car wouldn't start one afternoon after school and she helped me jump start it. Lots of wonderful memories of Janna.

I know this is very late. But not a school year has passed since her last year of teaching that I don't think of her. She made such a difference in my sons' life. She worked tirelessly and diligently to make sure that he understood the importance of his classwork and his future. She put so many tools and initiatives in place for him in his 504 and its transition to an IEP plan. He, Garreth Islip, is now a senior in 2013 and still excelling from the building blocks she provided for him so many years ago. I can only imagine how many children's successful academic lives she's responsible for today. And, I'm sure that I'm not the only parent that continues to think of and appreciate her every year. Thank you, Ms Paster! I know you are still an Angel in Heaven as you were on earth. God bless you and your family!

To the Paster and Bellows Families:
A picture of Janna's smiling face always appears to me when I think of her. She was always upbeat, happy, and smiling in her healthier days. I pray that she is now enjoying a pain free, joyous life with her special grandmother Profit and all of the other good people in heaven. I think of her every time I see that special rainbow that appeared on the day of her funeral. It was definitely Janna's rainbow! Gone from us, but never forgotten!

Dear Mark and the Bellows Family -
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief. We only met Janna a couple of times, but we remember her fondly.
Having just lost a close friend of ours to Cancer at 28, we realize the right words for this type of situation are hard to come by.
Remember the smiles and joy Janna brought to the World. Take some solace knowing she is happy, peaceful and watching over you all.
Love,

To the Bellows & Paster Families:
My daughter Arielle was very fortunate to begin fourth grade at Parmenter with Miss Bellows as her teacher, it was also Janna's first year of teaching. Two years later my daughter, Christina was in her class as well. Janna was a dynamic, caring and devoted teacher who left a lasting impression on both of my daughters. We thank you for bringing this special person into our lives. We will always remember her. Heaven has gained an angel.

Mark- Janna was truly one of a kind, she was everyone's best friend. We are all better people because Janna was in our lives and we are deeply saddened that she left us way too soon. Jim Valvano famously said "Cancer can take away my physical ability. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul." Those things will live on forever in all those who knew Janna and loved her.

Janna and I have called each other "my oldest friend" for some time now. I am so grateful to have shared a wonderful childhood, and much more, with Janna. I am blessed with hysterical memories of ski trips, card games, neighborhood cookouts, as well as rainy days playing Teddy's nintendo. Janna will remain in my thoughts.
It makes us so happy to know that Mark was able to be such thoughtful and kind friend and husband to her. Thank you, Mark, for coming into Janna's life and adding so much joy.
Janna, we love you so much, and while your physical presence will certainly be sorely missed, I know you will be in our hearts.

I am a teacher at the Jefferson School, a neighbor to Parmenter. I only had the privilege of meeting Janna at several committee meetings. Her passion, commitment and love for children and teaching was well known. She was truly a teacher to be admired and one to emulate. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her families, friends and fellow teachers for this great loss of life. Less than a year ago, I lost my only sibling a(brother) I try each day to dwell on all the good times and love he brought into my life and how lucky I was to have him. Dear Bellows and Paster families-
I am so sorry for your loss and just crushed about the news of Janna's passing. I feel so bad for her husband Mark and for all of her students and colleagues. I began working in Franklin the same year that Janna did and that year I also worked at Parmenter school. I was on a 'cart' for music classes at the time and so I got to go into all of the classrooms. I was so impressed with what a great teacher she was, even in that first year (and another year when I returned to teach there). You could tell that the kids just loved her. Many of those kids will be graduating High School this year. I remember thinking 'this is her first year?' She seemed like such a pro. I was in awe. I still have many wonderful memories of coming to her classroom every week to teach music. I know her students and colleagues, as well as her friends and family, have so many more. This will keep her alive in our hearts and in our minds. We miss you, Janna.

Mr. Paster:
I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Ms. Bellows/Mrs. Paster as my 5th Grade teacher. She was awesome! We didn't have her for long, but, she always told us about her Mark and that you were her prince. She said she always dreamed of getting married and you made her dreams come true. She was so happy. At your wedding she was the beautiful princess. She always smiled and laughed and gave great hugs. Sometimes she twirled my hair in class. I love her and always will think of her. God has a new guardian angel and when it snows I know that she will be having pillow fights up in heaven with all of the kids. When it rains I know that she will be splashing water around. At night she will be the brightest star in the sky. When the sun shines, it will be Mrs. Paster smiling at all of us. I will never forget the best 5th grade teacher, ever. Love always.

To the Bellows and Paster families,
My children are students at Parmenter Elementary School in Franklin where Janna taught. Although neither of them had Janna as a teacher, I can tell you that the children always wanted to be placed in her class. I never had the opportunity to meet Janna, but am certain I saw her pass in the halls during many of my visits to the school. I know now, after seeing her photograph and that infectious, beautiful smile, that I did see her pass in the halls and said "hello." I know she touched many lives for the better. Her courage and dedication to her students will always be remembered by the families of Franklin. God bless and comfort you all during this difficult time. Janna was my wife and most of all my best friend. I love her more than I have ever loved anything in my life. She fought so hard and so long for our life. I miss her so much, the void left in my life can never be filled. She was the best wife that a man could have asked for, she loved me more than anyone has ever loved me and I thank her for that. I cannot imagine what my life is going to be like without her, I don't want to either. She always thought of others first, she truely was a special person. The only solace that I can find is that she is no longer scared, or in pain. But that is still not enough. She was the love of my life and I miss her so much. I can't believe that this happened. Why my Janna! My little girl, my wife. She was the best thing that ever hapenned to me. This wasn't supposed to have happened. I could type forever cause my list of great things about her is never ending. I truely still cannot believe that she is gone. I love you Janna, I told you that a million times I just wish I could say it one more time.

Embrace your faith and that of others to help you through. You will be reunited in the end. She was such a lovely person. Janna will always hold a special place in my heart as she was such a signficant part of the first half of my life.
