Donald Cooley Obituary

Of Needham, October 26, 2007. Beloved husband for 64 years of Virginia (Fullerton). Brother of the late William H. and Arthur N. Cooley. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., Needham on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 1:00 PM. Relatives & friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting will be held on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1:00 prior to the service. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers donations in Dons name may be made to the Needham Fire and Rescue c/o Needham Fire Dept. 88 Chestnut St. Needham MA 02492. Late graduate of Wellesley High School, US Army World War II veteran, served in Germany from 1941-1943. Former Vice president of A.D. Jones Optical in Cambridge MA, who was contracted with NASA in the late 60's and early 70's to design a communications instrument for the Apollo space missions. After leaving A.D. Jones Mr. Cooley worked for Meller Co. in Providence RI, retiring at age 62. Mr. Cooley was an accomplished woodworker, he loved gardening and nature, was an avid fisherman and skier, both down hill & cross country. Mr. Cooley,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
