Caryl Blanchard Obituary

October 30, 2007, departed this life at his residence in Canton after a tough courageous battle with cancer. Caryl was born on May 3, 1930 in Hartford, CT to the late Thomas and Bertha Blanchard and married Grace Tyner on August 10, 1952. Beloved husband of 55 years to Grace Blanchard. Loving father of Dr. Carol Blanchard and her husband Dr. William Sylvia, Jr. of Lawrence, MA, Joyce Blanchard Campbell and her husband Peter Campbell of Vienna, VA, Carl Blanchard and his wife Jennifer Blanchard of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Sharon Blanchard and her husband Robert Otto, Jr. of Braintree, MA. Proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Courtney, James and Christine, all of VA, and Caroline, Thomas, Rebecca and Alison, all of NJ. Also surviving is his sister Laura Zaloga of South Carolina and his sister-in-law Florence Blanchard of NY. Caryl had a joy for life and a passion for the outdoors and nature, matched by none. A very active man throughout his life, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and gardening. Very talented with his hands, he also had a passion for woodworking and painting, leaving behind a legacy of treasures for those he loved. Caryl had the ability not to just strike up a conversation, but a friendship, with almost anyone anywhere. His sense of humor, the twinkle in his eye, and his smile will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service, with Naval Honors, will be held Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:30 AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, off Connery Ave. in Bourne, MA.
