Feliksas Kontautas Obituary

After a long illness, of South Boston, passed away on October 30, 2007. He was a dedicated husband of 51 years to Laima (Valickas) Kontautas, encouraging father of Lydia (Kontautas) Rudis with husband Romas, Aidas Kontautas, & Audrius Kontautas; & loving grandfather (known as Tevuks) of Aidas R. Rudis. He was the brother of Petras Kontautas who was killed in 1938 & is survived by his sister Ada (Kontautas) Monkus & her sons Darius & Alvydas. Born on September 9, 1925 in Klaipeda, Lithuania. He fought against the soviets during WWII. He immigrated to America, where he met his wife Laima & has been a resident of So Boston for many years. He was a high school graduate and attended the Industrial Technical Institute in Boston to study Electro Mechanical Design. After graduation in 1960, he joined Honeywell Electronic Data Processing group in Newton. His greatest personal thrill was being promoted from Mechanical Design Checking to Drafting Supervisor, and Senior Engineer Support Specialist. He took great pride in his work & was a mentor to younger draftsmen until retiring after 30 years. Feliksas loved the ocean & his walks around Castle Island with his huskies. Throughout his life he enjoyed acting, swimming, & the company of his family & friends. He enjoyed attending the many functions at the Lithuanian Club. A wake will be held on Sunday, Nov 4th, from 3-7 PM at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON. The funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lithuanian Church, 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston, on Monday, Nov. 5, at 10 AM, with a procession to his final resting place in New Calvary Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Phillips House in Dorchester. Feliksas was active in the Lithuanian-American community & St. Peter's Lithuanian Church. He produced two video documentaries on Lithuania's independence movement in 1991 that are available from his son-in-law Romas ([email protected]). Donations can be made to Lithuanian Foundation, Inc. Andy, Although late, I am very sorry for the loss of your Father, I know how much he meant to you. I know we have'nt been in touch for a long while, I hope everything is well with you.
