My wife, Cindy, and I are sorry we could not attend Betty Jane's memorial service. BZ, as she was known to my family, was a warm and amusing woman and a loving aunt to me and my two brothers. I have many, many fond memories of times spent with her in Pentwater, Chicago, New York and Cambridge. She was curious, caring and fun to be with.

Betty was a terrific friend and also an inspiration to younger women who knew her. For me, she will always be an example of strength and commitment despite adversity. And she was funny, too!

It is with pleasure that I remember Betty. Her joy was in her family and friends, among whom I am pleased to be counted as one.
